A team of trained fire crew operate at Sandtoft; when the airfield is operating on a licensed basis (Saturday and Sunday). Between them they hold many years of experience with firefighting, especially at airfields and around aircraft.
Exercises include: immediate response to an emergency; airfield maintenance; the refueling of aircraft and fire drills.

Facilities and Equipment
The Airfield is equipped with a fire station and alarm system. This aids the quick response of the fire crew to an emergency on the airfield.
The fire crew have a variety of vehicles that they operate on the airfield. These include a fuel bowser for refueling aircraft; a fire truck that contains extinguishers,hoses and equipment useful for emergency response and a fire and rescue van for transporting equipment around the site.
The aim of the fire crew at Sandtoft is to provide a professional Rescue and Fire fighting Service to all that use the airfield.
